Crackerjack BBQ pops up to celebrate easter

Sunday 1st April saw the Crackerjack BBQ team pop up at Monteys Rock Cafe in Harrogate this Easter bank holiday. This little gem of a bar is tucked in the heart of Harrogate’s Montpellier Quarter down The Ginnel and is a mecca for live bands and classy cocktails.

The forecourt of the rock cafe was given over to Crackerjack BBQ who set up a full BBQ station complete with flat bed BBQ grill and rotisserie. Although the spring sunshine was absent, customers were not and by noon the cafe was full to bursting.  The Crackerjack waiting team, in full black and pink signature uniform, could be seen speedily serving food to table inside the bar as orders flooded in.

Yorkshire Bank Holiday weather was, as usual, wet and cold, but that didn’t deter customers from creating a party atmosphere as they settled in to eat, drink and be merry. In addition to the food on offer, also on the bill was live music. During the day there were sets from Empress, a yorkshire based rock band and singer-songwriter Rob Reynolds.

The menu for the day was varied, catering to meat lovers and vegetarians alike. On offer was tempura Soft Shell crab, Rotisserie Tandoori Chicken, Barbecue Pulled Pork with Tennessee Gravy, Duroc Pork Rib Eye and Crayfish & Lobster Mac ‘n’ Cheese burgers. Also on the menu was American Mac ‘n’ Cheese, Onion Bhaji’s, Charcoal roasted Sweet Potatoes, Butternut squash and Corn on the Cob with chipotle butter.

As evening drew in, table service made way for take-away style service. Served in black boxes, food could be eaten inside or out and the menu was a variation on the days offerings. Numbers increased in the evening as fans of local rock band M.F.O.R. arrived adding to the throng of people in full party mode. All the expended energy from dancing was quickly recharged as customers fuelled up from Crackerjack  BBQ, some sampling most of the items on the menu by returning several times.

As midnight approached, Crackerjack BBQ sold out. Over 200 people enjoyed the easter celebrations at Monteys and many more passing by popped over to grab a bite to eat en-route to their next venue of choice. The management and staff were highly praised for organising a fantastic event with fantastic food! Credit to Andy & his Crackerjack BBQ team. Here’s to another pop up very soon!
